A ceramic coating is a highly durable, hydrophobic, color-enhancing sealant that bonds directly to your vehicle's surface. Here are the pros of a ceramic coating.
Damage Protection:
A ceramic coating is highly resistant to damage, such as paint-marring, oxidation, and chemical etching from external factors. E.g., bird droppings, bug guts, and tree sap.
Color Enhancement:
A coating greatly enhances the color saturation of the underlying surface, meaning deeper and more vibrant colors and inky blacks.
Self-Cleaning Properties
While the coating won't grab a hose and start rinsing itself off, it will repel mud, water, and dust, meaning your vehicle stays cleaner for much longer.
The base chemical composition of a ceramic coating is Silicon Dioxide (Si02). Silicon Dioxide is what gives the coating its unparalleled durability, color enhancement, and hydrophobicity. As a general rule, the higher the concentration of Si02, the longer the coating will last and the better it will perform.
With proper care and maintenance, your coating can far outlast your warranty.
Two factories affect how long your coating will last:
1. Quality of the product
2. Maintenance
The quality of the product is your baseline; a higher-quality product will last longer. If a ceramic coating is advertised to last 7 years, it will only do so if the proper maintenance plan is followed.
Paint correction is the process of removing scratches, swirls, hazing, and texture from the vehicle's paint. This can be done with machine polishing or block sanding in combination with a polisher.
The stage refers to the intensity of the paint correction.
Staging Guide
Stage 1: Corrects most minor defects in a vehicle's paint and boosts gloss. This is a great option for newer vehicles that have experienced minor wear.
Stage 2: Removes most medium-depth paint defects and adds fantastic gloss, depth, and clarity
Stage 3: Removes nearly all defects and gives the paint exemplary gloss, depth, and clarity.
Stage 5: Block sanding. Read more on that below
Block sanding is a precision surface-leveling process used to refine automotive paint far beyond the capabilities of machine polishing alone. A rigid backing is used to shear off the paint's irregularities—removing textures such as orange peel, ripples, and other isolated defects.
The result is a flatter, more uniform surface that reflects light more cleanly—producing luminous gloss, extreme depth, and sharp clarity. The result is a surface that is more akin to still water than painted metal.
Because of the number of corrective steps, block sanding is performed selectively and only where the paint thickness allows. It’s typically reserved for show cars or simply for vehicle owners who want the highest possible level of visual refinement.

These prices are averages; however, the cost may vary based on the size and condition of your vehicle.
Stage-5 (Block sanding): $3200
Stage-3: $2000
Stage-2: $1500
Stage-1: $1000
At Vanguard, we recommend having a ceramic coating applied after a paint correction. The additional cost may be as low as $300!
Yes, and absolutely. A hand wash is a delicate and methodical process that leaves your vehicle looking better than ever. A drive-through car wash may seem convenient, but it's one of the worst things you can do to your vehicle's paint. In a word, drive-through car washes are VIOLENT! Dirty spinning wheels, harsh chemicals, and dryers that launch nearby contaminants into your paint. Terminate the machines and join the winning side.
Of course! Being a veteran-owned business, we offer a 12% discount to all military and first-responders upon validation. Verification methods include: Military ID, LES, Orders, or DD 214.
